In contrast to the hi-tech filters offered by software companies, blind individuals posses a genetic filter, allowing them visual immunity to a plethora of advertising messages. In exploration of this idea, I embarked on a shopping trip with a blind woman to the Ikea. The final installation consisted of the sofa she choose, and an audio recording of our excursion.
The major themes of the 2002 Foto Bienalle: Experience were the influence of the profusion of visual media culture, and the effects of the huge quantity of media messages we receive everyday.
